By becoming the Lord Mayor of Manchester, Yasmin Dar, a member of the South Asian and Muslim communities in the United Kingdom, has accomplished a significant milestone. She is the first Asian to hold this prestigious position, so this is a significant moment in history.
Yasmin will represent Manchester City in this capacity for a year, representing the interests of the city at significant events.
Yasmin enjoys a high level of respect for her work as a social justice activist. She has devoted much of her time to the welfare industry and was instrumental in starting the thriving nonprofit organization Community on Solid Ground. She offers support to young people in Whalley Range through this organization.
