Yasir Arafat, a former cricketer, will be hired by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to serve as the team’s new bowling and assistant coach.
According to insiders, it was determined that Arafat would act as the team’s head coach in Arthur’s absence after conversations with Mickey Arthur, who will be named the team’s director.
Despite taking on the role of team director, it should be noted that Arthur will continue to serve as Derbyshire County Cricket Club’s full-time coach, thus he won’t be present for any international series that happen during the English county season.
Two Test matches will be played in Sri Lanka in July, and in September, Pakistan will compete in the Asia Cup. Arthur is anticipated to be unavailable for these tasks, but will travel with the group for the Australian trip later this year and the 2023 World Cup in India.
Arafat just became the first Pakistani Test cricketer to finish the level 4 coaching course offered by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).
He tweeted about it and thanked the Pakistan Cricket Association (PCA) and his coaches for their assistance in helping him reach this goal.
“Alhumdulillah, I have completed my ECB Level 4 coaching course. A big thanks to @PCA for their support and to all the coaches who helped me achieve this,” tweeted .Arafat
Arafat, who represented Pakistan in 11 ODIs, 13 T20Is, and 3 Test matches, has made England his home after his retirement, where he has been employed in a variety of roles and serving as a junior team coach.
He allegedly applied for the job of bowling coach for Pakistan in 2019, but Waqar Younis ultimately took it on as part of the new coaching staff run by Misbah-ul-Haq.
