The Redmi A1, last year’s low-cost treat, is about to be replaced by the Xiaomi Redmi A2. To recap, the Xiaomi A1 series features MediaTek’s Helio A22 SoC and a 6.52-inch IPS HD+ screen. Under the hood is 3GB + 32GB memory, a 5000mAh battery, and a 10W charging speed — a surprisingly well-rounded phone for less than $100. Following suit, the Redmi A2 is bound to be a success.
The A2 has appeared on multiple certifications prior to its official release, confirming the model number and its impending release. And, just moments ago, the always-trustworthy leak source WinFuture revealed crucial details about the phone, including some official renders. Here’s what the new leak consists of.
To begin with, the Redmi A2 appears to have the same build as its predecessor based on the source images. Back with a matte texturized finish, dual camera setup, front with a drop notch, and seemingly chunky bezels enveloping the screen. The device will receive some upgrades due to its redesigned design.
According to WinFuture, the Redmi A2 will be powered by a new MTK chipset. It was recently made official by MediaTek. It is the successor to the entry-level Helio G35 chip. The new chip is known as the Helio G36, and the A2 may be the first phone to get it. The latest Xiaomi A smartphone should inherit its predecessor’s remaining specifications.
The new Redmi A mobile with an HD+ screen will most likely come in multiple storage variants, and to improve performance, an Android 13 Go edition will be installed by default. On the back, there will be an 8MP primary camera and an unspecified secondary sensor. A 5,000mAh battery resting beneath the chassis will power it up, supported by 10W charging.
