In April, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra will go on sale worldwide. The Xiaomi 12S Ultra, which it replaced, debuted in July 2022. The 12S Ultra device was the first smartphone that Xiaomi and Leica jointly engineered. The two businesses announced a long-term strategic partnership for mobile imaging earlier this year, which means that going forward, all high-end Xiaomi devices will have Leica-branded cameras. One such highly anticipated device is the Xiaomi 13 Ultra. The upcoming smartphone has been the subject of numerous leaks and reports since before the Mobile World Congress in 2023.
In a tweet, Leica Camera (@leica_camera) formally announced that the Xiaomi 13 Ultra smartphone will go on sale worldwide in April. In a tweet, Xiaomi’s founder and CEO Lei Jun further confirmed that the Xiaomi 13 Ultra will come with the “most exceptional Leica Summicron lens.”

Leica claims that the spherical optical design of the Summicron lens contributes to “perfect imaging and excellent contrasts.” The Xiaomi 12S Ultra Concept’s body could be fitted with a Leica M-series lens module. It will be interesting to see how Xiaomi has incorporated the aforementioned special Leica lens in its phone following the announcement of their partnership.
According to reports, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra, which uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, will be available in 12GB and 16GB RAM variants, with 256GB and 512GB of internal storage. A 6.7-inch WQHD+ AMOLED LTPO display with a refresh rate of 120Hz is anticipated for the phone.
A 50-megapixel primary sensor, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and two 50-megapixel telephoto sensors are anticipated to make up the rumored quad rear camera setup. A 32-megapixel sensor is anticipated to be used by the front camera.
According to reports, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra is expected to ship with a 4,900mAh battery that supports 90W fast charging and runs MIUI 14 on top of Android 13.
