On Tuesday, Xiaomi 13 Ultra was unveiled in China. Perhaps the most eagerly anticipated release from the Chinese smartphone manufacturer in 2023 is the smartphone. The company also teased customers with specific details about the handset in the run-up to its release in response to numerous reports and leaks about its features and design. It has Leica-tuned cameras with premium, bespoke Summicron lenses. To improve image quality on the former’s line of smartphones, Xiaomi and Leica partnered for the long term earlier this year. Additionally, the phone adds a “Hibernation” mode that is said to optimize battery usage when there is only 1% of the battery left.
The Xiaomi 13 Ultra is offered in three color options: black, white, and green. There are three storage options. Priced at CNY 5,999 for the base model with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of built-in storage and CNY 6,499 for the mid-range model with 16GB + 512GB RAM and storage. The most expensive 16GB + 1TB model, on the other hand, costs CNY 7,299.
Xiaomi has not yet disclosed its plans to introduce the Xiaomi 13 Ultra in countries other than China.
The 6.73-inch AMOLED WQHD+ (3,200 x 1,440) display on Xiaomi’s recently released dual SIM (Nano) smartphone has a refresh rate of up to 120Hz, a touch sampling rate of 360Hz, and a maximum brightness level of 1,300 nits. It comes pre-installed with MIUI 14 based on Android 13.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 4nm octa-core chipset and Adreno 740 GPU power the Xiaomi 13 Ultra. It has up to 16GB of LPPDR5X RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage built in.
The camera unit that comes with the device is its best feature. A 50-megapixel 1-inch IMX989 sensor and three 50-megapixel IMX858 sensors make up the Leica-tuned rear quad camera unit. The cameras have six different focal length lenses and Leica-designed Summicron lenses.
At the top of the display, there is a center-aligned hole-punch cutout that houses the 32-megapixel front camera. A Fast Shot mode that is allegedly intended for street photography is additionally available in the camera settings. With this mode, the user can snap a photo in just 0.8 seconds.
The 5,000mAh battery in the Xiaomi 13 Ultra supports 90W wired and 50W wireless fast charging. The wired fast charging method promises to charge the phone completely in 34 minutes.
Additionally, the company added a hibernation mode to the gadget. When there is only 1% battery life left in the phone, it turns on. It provides a talk time of 12 minutes and allows the phone to stay on for 60 minutes to support social interaction. According to the manufacturer, the phone also has an in-display fingerprint sensor for biometric authentication along with an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.
