A nurse in Arkansas is being charged with a felony for allegedly trying to buy oxycodone tablets at pharmacies using a deceased man’s name.
According to KAIT, Caitlin Carol Adams was charged with three counts of fraud or deceit to get a prescription for a narcotic substance that was fabricated as part of several narcotics purchases made last month.
Adams is charged with buying 120 oxycodone tablets at a Jonesboro, Arkansas, drugstore on January 2 using a fictitious prescription, according to the outlet.
According to investigators, Adams purchased the drugs using a credit card bearing her identity and is a credentialed registered nurse as defined by the Arkansas State Board of Nursing.
Investigators noted in the complaint that “an employee of the pharmacy contacted the nursing home in question after looking into the prescription, and they stated that Caitlin Adams was fired on Jan. 1,” according to KAIT.
Investigators say that on January 6, Adams went back to the same pharmacy with a prescription for 180 oxycodone pills.
According to the affidavit, the prescription was written in the name of a man who was later identified as a resident at the same assisted living facility where Adams had previously worked.
Also deceased since December 30 was the man whose name appeared on the prescription.
