Over the weekend, three Temple University students pretended to be fake federal immigration agents on the Philadelphia campus, and neither police officers nor school administrators found the stunt amusing.
One of the students, Aidan Steigelmann, 22, who was identified by Fox affiliate WTXF-TV News, was suspended from the university after being accused of impersonating a governmental servant.
According to the school, two additional pupils who were not named are currently being investigated.
“Impersonating law enforcement officers is a crime,” school officials said in a statement Saturday. “This behavior and harassment of Temple community members will not be tolerated.
“The Philadelphia Police Department and Temple University Police swiftly responded to the incidents and initiated a criminal investigation,” the statement said. “PPD is the lead investigative agency and TUPD is actively assisting to gather information.”
