On April 13, Biofire Technologies unveiled the 9mm handgun with fingerprint and 3D infrared facial recognition security. It works in a variety of situations, including when a user is wearing gloves or a facial covering.
Kai Kloepfer, the company’s founder, wants to reduce the number of suicides and accidental shooting deaths among children in the country.
This could be a big problem given the debate and controversy surrounding smart weapons and the fact that they haven’t been widely available before. A smart pistol of sufficient quality to be taken seriously has been difficult to develop.
It is rare to come across someone whose products can be trusted to perform flawlessly in situations where lives are in danger and who has a thorough understanding of both ballistics and biometrics.
