The highly anticipated 2023 Cricket World Cup is less than 100 days away, and hotel rates have soared in important cities like Ahmedabad, which is hosting the opening match, finals, and the eagerly anticipated India-Pakistan match.

Reputable hotels in Ahmedabad have seen an increase in bookings since the schedule was recently announced. According to Nikhil Sharma, Market Managing Director of Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, Eurasia, almost 70% of the city’s available rooms have already been reserved for October 15.

The India-Pakistan match at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium on October 15 is a highlight of the 2023 Men’s World Cup schedule, which was unveiled on Tuesday by the International Cricket Council (ICC). Room rates have significantly increased since the announcement, with some hotels charging more than ten times their regular rates. Hotels are sometimes charging as much as Rs 1 lakh for just one night. For instance, on July 4 at the Lemon Tree Hotel in Ahmedabad, a standard single room costs Rs 3,086; however, on October 15, the cost rises to Rs 59,219 (a 45% increase).

ITC Narmada, Courtyard by Marriott, Hyatt, and Taj Skyline Ahmedabad are upscale hotels that have already sold out of rooms for October 15. The premium hotel segment is in high demand during these dates, according to Santosh Kumar, the Country Manager for India, Sri Lanka, the Maldives, and Indonesia, and he anticipates the demand to spill over into middle-tier hotels and alternative lodgings.

Additionally, Kumar cited the thrill and excitement of seeing India play in person as a key factor in cricket fans’ travel decisions. In contrast to the same time last year, he observed an increase in demand for match dates in October.

In conclusion, as the 2023 Cricket World Cup nears, hotel rates in Ahmedabad have increased because of the high demand for the tournament’s opening match, finals, and India-Pakistan match. The worldwide excitement and enthusiasm of cricket fans are reflected in the fact that many hotels are already completely booked and that room rates have increased significantly.
