Shahid Afridi, a former captain of Pakistan’s cricket team, is adamant that it would be extremely embarrassing for India for Pakistan to defeat them in a major cricket tournament, especially on their home field. Afridi pleaded with the management to support sending the national team to the World Cup and bringing the trophy back, thus resolving the issue in a constructive and wise way.
Afridi expressed his perplexity over the Pakistan Cricket Board’s steadfast refusal to allow Pakistan to play in India. He advised them to adopt a more upbeat attitude and exhorted the players to go out and give it their all. He emphasized that winning the competition would send a clear message to BCCI in addition to being a significant victory for Pakistan.
Afridi advised the PCB to select the option that would be the most practical and feasible given the limited options available. He urged the group to travel to India, perform well, and win. Afridi thought that this was the best course of action to show that Pakistan could win anywhere and to make its opponents aware of it.
Afridi had previously emphasized the significance of keeping politics and cricket apart and pleaded with the appropriate authorities to quickly decide whether to hold the Asia Cup in Pakistan.
Since 2012, Pakistan and India, who are known as arch rivals for historical reasons, have been unable to play one another on their home fields in any format of the game.
