The team has confirmed that former Baltimore Ravens running back Alex Collins passed away on Monday at the age of 28.

The Baltimore Ravens released a statement in which they expressed their sorrow over Alex Collins’ passing. “He was a genuinely kind person who was quick to smile and greet everyone. He always carried a sense of joy and passion with him. May Alex always be cherished for the love and light he shared with so many people throughout his life.”

Collins, who played in the NFL for five seasons, is best known for his outstanding performance with the Arkansas Razorbacks while still in college. His professional career included three seasons with the Seattle Seahawks, who selected him in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL Draft, and two more with the Ravens.

Running back for American football Alex Collins had a varied career. He most recently represented the Memphis Showboats in the United States Football League (USFL). The Seattle Seahawks chose Collins with the 171st overall pick in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL Draft. In his professional career, he played for the Baltimore Ravens for two seasons each in 2017 and 2018 before returning to Seattle in 2020. The time he spent playing football for the University of Arkansas was a turning point in his collegiate career.

Collins made the decision to retire from the NFL after suffering numerous injuries and mishaps. After Collins was arrested following a car accident earlier that day, the Ravens released him from their roster on March 1, 2019.

He later entered a guilty plea to the charges of possessing a firearm in a moving vehicle and more than 10 grams of marijuana on October 3, 2019. He was consequently given an 18-month term of unsupervised probation. As a result of his actions, the NFL suspended him for three weeks on November 1, 2019, for violating the league’s personal conduct policy. Collins’ suspension was revoked on November 19, 2019, and he was reinserted into the lineup.
