Survivor 44 proved to be unlike any previous season from the start. During the two-hour premiere, a castaway was removed from the show after only 12 hours, both challenges were temporarily halted, and new twists and advantages resulted in the show’s most chaotic first vote in history.
Bruce Perreault
Bruce was incredibly eager to dive into the game. Unfortunately, he literally took that action, and just a few steps after the first challenge, he was struck in the head. It was sufficient to bring him to his knees, halting play in the competition. Bruce’s condition appeared to improve immediately after receiving the all-clear from the doctors, but it hit a wall as soon as night fell. Bruce had to be removed from the game on the first night because his head was killing him, leaving him and his tribe inconsolable.
Maddy Pomilla
Maddy was prepared to play hard right away because she quit her job to participate in Survivor. She thought Brandon had already gotten too powerful in the game after he managed to free an idol from the cage that had appeared at camp. She tried to dogpile the NFL player, rallying the group behind a scheme to surprise him with an idol in his pocket. But chaos triumphed over order in this situation. In an effort to ensure their safety, Jaime and Matthew each played their Shots in the Dark, which frightened Brandon into portraying his idol. And Brandon received the lone vote, which was sufficient to eliminate her.
Survivor 44 began with a number of fresh advantages and twists. In the middle of the jungle, a cage with a lock was placed. When Brandon discovered the tribe’s key, he used it to unlock the cage and discover an idol and a fake medallion inside. Sarah also received the “Inheritance Advantage” at the summit, which she must use as the votes are cast in order to obtain all of the idols and advantages used during that Tribal Council. Lauren acquired the “Bank a Vote Advantage,” which permitted her to abstain from casting a vote during a Tribal Council in order to later gain an additional vote.
Surprisingly, at the Tribal Council for the premiere, many benefits were revealed. Both Jaime and Matthew participated in the Shot in the Dark, giving up their votes for a one in six chance of coming out on top. While Jaime was successful in obtaining immunity, Matthew was not. While Lauren decided to reserve her vote at this Tribal Council, Brandon played the role of his idol.
