In 2017, MOLLY Matheson’s mother discovered her dead in her toilet while she was a 22-year-old Tarrant Community College student in Fort Worth, Texas.
Five years later, Matheson’s case will be discussed on Dateline, generating interest in the identity of the young woman.
Who was Molly Matheson?
David and Tracy Matheson only had one daughter, Molly, who was the second oldest of their four children.
When Molly was a senior in high school, her family left Winter Park, Florida, and relocated to Texas.
Molly spent three years at the University of Arkansas after graduating, where she earned an A+ grade.
She met and had a brief relationship with Reginald Kimbro while she was there; he claimed to be a fellow student.
His absence is documented in school records.
After returning to Fort Worth, Molly enrolled at Tarrant Community College.
She intended to enrol at Tarleton State University to earn her social work degree.
“Molly had a passion for children, especially those in need, and this enthusiasm propelled her desire to touch their lives as a social worker,” states her obituary.
Children were captivated to Molly’s goofy, vivacious, and joyous nature and developed a liking for her as well.
Additionally, Molly was a devout Christian who participated in church-sponsored mission trips and eagerly anticipated volunteering at Vacation Bible School in the summer.
She was extremely close to her close-knit family, according to the obituary.
What happened to Molly Matheson?
Reginald Kimbro, Molly’s former Arkansas boyfriend, paid her a visit at her apartment on April 9, 2017.
He arrives at her house about 10.25 p.m. on surveillance video, and he leaves at roughly 2 a.m.
The following day, Molly skipped work.
Her anxious supervisor made a call to Molly’s mom, who then made a call to Molly’s neighbour.
Because of the neighbor’s report that Molly’s car was in the driveway, her mother decided to go check on her.
Texas is one of 27 states that permits the death penalty in these circumstances, but Kimbro entered a plea agreement that granted him two life sentences without the possibility of parole or appeals in exchange for eliminating the possibility of the death penalty.
Molly’s mother told Dallas ABC station WFAA that she learned of his decision to accept the plea deal on the Wednesday before: “I received information the Wednesday prior that he was willing to plead guilty to all counts in exchange for life without parole and no appeals.”
“This kind of resolution was really the best resolution … one we really hadn’t considered.”
