He wrote on Instagram: “I know they say the god doesn’t make mistakes, but come on man, not @ikitchie my heart is shattered. Just saw you two weeks ago. So many questions why… rest beautifully my blessed friend gone too soon gone for no reason.”
Following the untimely passing of his longtime personal aide Marikit “Kitchie” Laurico, Floyd Mayweather and his family are in grief.
Here, we examine her time spent working with Mayweather and pay homage to her.
Who was Marikit ‘Kitchie’ Laurico?
Floyd Mayweather’s longtime aide was Marikit “Kitchie” Laurico, a legendary boxer.
She represented Mayweather for more than ten years before tragically passing away unexpectedly at age 47. After an accidental encounter with the winner,
Laurico became an important part of “The Money Team.” As his personal secretary and marketing manager, which she held until her passing, he invited her to join him.
She accompanied Mayweather as he travelled the globe for bouts and commercial events.
At the age of 11, Kitchie left the Philippines for the US. In college, she majored in public relations and marketing. Although the reason of death has not been determined, some accounts claim that a heart attack was the cause.
While other family members have expressed their condolences, Mayweather has not yet commented on the passing of his longtime buddy and personal aide. Mayweather’s daughter expressed her sorrow at the passing.
She said: “This doesn’t feel real… my heart is so heavy. You were more than just my dad’s assistant you were family.
“You were the definition of someone with a good heart, you always lifted people up and made them feel good about themselves.
“There’s no one like you will truly be missed, love you forever.”
Leonard Ellerbe, the CEO of Mayweather Promotions, responded to Mauricio Sulaiman’s homage to Kitchie by tweeting two broken heart emojis. Jamie Foxx, an Oscar-winning performer, also expressed his shock at the news.
