According to reports, the rapper Lotta Cash Desto was shot and died on Saturday in Houston (Sept. 24). The Memphis native was pronounced dead at the scene during the early-morning incident on Saturday that also left two other persons with non-fatal injuries, according to Fox3 Now. Unknown is the age of the artist.
Police were called to the shooting scene, which was located on the city’s western side, in Texas. According to reports, Desto was operating a Porsche SUV with one passenger—a woman who was taken to the hospital for treatment of her injuries. The second victim, a guy, was located nearby and taken to a hospital in a private vehicle.
Desto was associated with Lil Uzi Vert, who frequently referred to her as “sister” or “twin,” according to Hip Hop DX. The two rappers frequently worked together, contributing to tracks by Desto including “Lunchroom” from August and “Vegas” from February.
“At this time, we do not have any suspects. We do not have any description of suspects,” revealed HPD Assistant Chief Wyatt Martin said in a statement following the shooting. “There are several witnesses that are being talked to by homicide.”
Police suspect the SUV was shot from more than one direction.
He continued, “We don’t have any information about motive at this time. It could be road rage, it could have been robbery. We just don’t know, and we don’t have enough information at this time to make a determination.”
