According to an ABC News report, “when officers arrived, they found Mrs. Meisner suffering from a single gunshot wound.”
Lana’s death was ruled a self-inflicted accident following an investigation.
“After a thorough investigation by Valley Bureau detective personnel and the Los Angeles Coroner’s Office, it was determined that Mrs. Meisner’s death was accidental,” the report read.
“Mrs. Meisner was moving a rifle that was stored inside a case in a closet. As she lifted the rifle in the case, another item within the case shifted and hit the trigger of the rifle causing it to fire and fatally injure Mrs. Meisner.”
They also mentioned that: “Mr. Meisner was cooperative throughout the investigation.”
This incident came after the police visited their home only two hours before after responding to “a radio call of a woman asking for police assistance for a possibly intoxicated male suspect.”
Authorities pulled up to the scene, took a domestic violence incident report, and left.

Randy Meisner, the Eagles’ longtime bandmate, died on Wednesday night at the age of 77, the band announced on July 27, 2023.
According to a statement acquired by AP News from the band, Meisner died of complications from chronic obstructive lung disease.
“Randy was an integral part of the Eagles and instrumental in the band’s early success,” the statement said.
“His vocal range was astonishing, as is evident on his signature ballad, Take It to the Limit.”
Meisner is survived by his three kids from his first marriage to Jennifer Lee Barton.
