Who was Konrad Imirowicz?
Konrad Imirowicz lived in Oakland County, Michigan.
He was the father of two daughters, Megan Imirowicz and Austin Imirowicz, whom he shared with Joyce Conrad.
Additional information on Konrad’s personal life is currently unknown due to his frequent absence from the spotlight.
What happened to Konrad Imirowicz?
Konrad’s daughter planned to spend her 18th birthday with friends on October 1, 2021.
Her father was supposed to bring her to her salon appointment that morning, but he had one too many beers and was eventually too inebriated to take her.
Prosecutors said in court that Konrad’s alcoholism enraged his daughter, so she threw drain cleaner on him while he was sleeping, resulting in chemical burns.
According to The Oakland Press, Konrad was hospitalized for several months due to the severity of his burns, during which time he experienced various infections, amputation of both legs, skin grafts, and renal dialysis, among other things.
He was discharged from the facility five months after he was admitted.
On March 6, 2022, he died as a result of his injuries.
What was Megan Imirowicz’s trial verdict?
Konrad’s daughter was arrested and charged with criminal assault with intent to commit grievous bodily harm less than murder and misdemeanor domestic violence as a result of his death.
According to Law & Crime, her lawyer contended in closing arguments that the victim told police he didn’t know who perpetrated the crime and that investigators obtained a fake confession by interviewing her in a car, but after a four-day trial, jurors delivered a guilty verdict.
Megan addressed the court during her sentencing, telling Judge Victoria Valentine that she is not “some monster” and that she is “the best parts of [Konrad].”
“I am his daughter. But without him, I don’t know who I am anymore,” she said.
“He taught me so many things in life, but the one thing he never taught me was how to live without him.
“I don’t want to learn. I just want my dad back.”
The convicted teen was facing a life sentence, but on July 25, 2023, Judge Valentine only sentenced her to one year in prison with five years of probation.
She was released later that day after receiving credit for the 17 months she already served.
“This is a serious crime that you have been found guilty of,” Judge Valentine said while adding that she appeared to be remorseful for her actions.
“The court does not believe that a child your age knew or understood the consequences of throwing the items at your father or the damage it would cause him.
“I expect you to do good things Ms. Imirowicz…carry on your father’s name,” she continued.
