June Fox-Roberts’ family and friends were devastated when the grandmother was killed in her own home in 2021.
A total stranger who claimed to be acting in the direction of a “higher power” brutally murdered Fox-Roberts, a Welshman.
June Fox-Roberts, who was she?
Mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother June Fox-Roberts was murdered in her own home. She had previously worked as an IT consultant and owned June’s Cakes and Shakes, a tiny bakery and cafe.
The woman, who was 65 at the time of her death, was in her home when a stranger broke in and killed her in Llantwit Fardre, South Wales.
June’s family remembered her as someone who “had a huge heart and would welcome anyone with open arms into her home” after her passing.
In a statement, they stated: “She was well known for never letting you leave her home or garden without first offering you a cup of coffee or glass of wine and a good chat. In addition, she was kind and would go out of her way to assist anyone who needed it.”
What happened to June Fox-Roberts?
June, a mother of three, was beaten by Luke Deeley in November 2021 after he broke into her home. June, who lost her husband more than ten years before she did, spent the weekend by herself at home.
After she had collapsed from the attack, Deeley put her on tarpaulin and proceeded to decapitate and dismember her. Later on, one of her daughters discovered June.
A post-mortem revealed that June had suffered blunt force trauma to her head while she was still alive.
She had been knocked out by a blow to the forehead, but in addition, she had received “stamping” on other parts of her body.
The family of June said in a statement following Deeley’s conviction: “On Sunday, November 21, 2021, our world imploded.
“June Fox-Roberts was taken from us by a complete stranger in a horrifying way.”
“June was not afraid of dying, but she wanted to pass away peacefully with her loved ones by her side. Luke stole that right from her and all of us when he took her life years before her natural time,” they continued.
Code Blue: The Killing Of June Fox-Roberts is a two-part documentary series that ITV released in July 2023.
In the episodes, the police investigation into June’s brutal murder is covered in detail.
Where is Luke Deeley now?
Paranoid schizophrenic art student Deeley murdered June and then tried to use bleach to clean her hallway before escaping. Then, in an effort to alter his appearance, he dyed and shaved his hair.
Two days after June’s murder, Deeley was found sleeping in a trailer in a nearby industrial park.
Deeley was seen talking and singing to himself while wrapped in a blanket in the CCTV footage shown to the court during Deeley’s trial.
He told police that a “higher power” had given him the order to murder someone.
He accepted responsibility for his actions and admitted to manslaughter.
According to a report from April 2023, Deeley had been held indefinitely in a mental hospital in accordance with the Mental Health Act.
Deeley was a University of South Wales student studying illustration, Newport Crown Court heard during his trial.
Ten days prior to the attack in June, he had moved out of his dorm after complaints about him stemming from an incident in which he threw water over a female student and cursed at her.
He was also alleged to have a “Satan and demons” obsession.
