Hove-Becker was born in Stockholm, Sweden, on April 30, 1983.
Her parents relocated to the United States in 1989.
She went to Arlington Country Day School, according to her obituary. She then attended the University of North Florida, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology as well as a master’s degree in psychology.
While working in Norfolk, Virginia, Hove-Becker became a licenced psychologist.
After her husband, Navy Lt. Craig Becker, was transferred to NATO in 2013, she relocated to Mons, Belgium.
Hove-Becker gave birth to a daughter named Isabelle Louise on June 12, 2014.
The couple divorced in September 2015, according to the obituary.
Hove-Becker, 32, died after falling from the seventh floor of a penthouse apartment in Mons at 9 p.m. on October 8, 2015.
According to The Florida Times-Union, she was initially ruled to have died by suicide.
Craig Becker, on the other hand, was later charged with Hove-murder. Becker’s
Craig Becker was found guilty of “premeditated murder, assault consummated by a battery, and conduct unbecoming an officer and a gentleman in connection with the death of Johanna Hove-Becker” on April 30, 2022, according to the Navy Times.
According to Becker’s charge sheet, “the junior officer was charged with assault consummated by a battery for ‘unlawfully’ poisoning his wife the day of her death with a drug cocktail that included the opioid tramadol and the zolpidem sleeping medication, and for strangling her in 2013.”
According to the outlet, he was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole. He was also discharged from the military.
Becker is currently appealing his conviction, according to The Florida Times-Union.
