More than a month after he went missing, authorities discovered the body of radio host Jeffrey Vandergrift floating in San Francisco Bay.
JV, the popular radio host, was reported missing to the San Francisco Police Department on February 23.
Police confirmed that his body was discovered in the water at Pier 39 shortly before 5 p.m. on Wednesday, and that there was no evidence of foul play.
It comes nearly two weeks after the radio station where he worked posted a tribute to the beloved host and husband.
Wild 94.9 shared details about Vandergrift’s life on social media on March 8 while thanking him for 30 years of entertainment in the Bay Area.
Thank you for making me laugh. Thank you for your support. ‘Thank you, JV,’ wrote the station.
Vandergrift went missing after telling listeners about mysterious brain problems he was having.
Later, viewers discovered that he had edited an Instagram caption to thank his fans for a ‘wonderful life.’
Despite working with police to find him, his model wife stated last week that he “will not be returning.”
Vandergrift began his show, The Dog House, on Hot 97.7 in San Jose before moving it to 107.7 – now known as Wild 94.9 – in San Francisco.
Vandergrift became a “household name” in the area thanks to the show’s “daily mix of pranks and laughs and a colorful cast of characters.”His coworkers praised him for being ‘open about the ups and downs of his own life.’
