The Top Rank bubble star was allegedly shot on Monday night at a residence on a street in his hometown of Detroit.
An altercation involving a relative happened on Monday night, according to the police, and a 28-year-old male was slain.
The shocking death of Isiah, who went professional after winning the 2016 National Golden Gloves and also competed on DAZN, has prompted a murder probe.
In his eulogy for a valiant fighter, Roshawn Jones confessed that he had begged Isiah to go to Ohio for his safety.
He said: “Him not turning down fights, every fight that he took, the odds were stacked against him.
“He had enough heart and courage to take them. He could have taken the easier route and just padded his record.”
But he admitted he had been worried about Isiah still living in Detroit.
And he added: “When you’re living in poverty there is more frustration, more stressful energy. When you’re poor it’s easier to get mad.”
In his 16 professional fights, Isiah had nine victories and seven losses.
According to reports, the deadly incident happened in the 9300 block of Stout Street at approximately 6:26 p.m.
There are still more information to come from the Detroit Police Department.
“Received the awful news that middleweight Isiah Jones was killed last night,” said DAZN boxing correspondent Corey Erdman on Tuesday.
Roshawn Jones tweeted as well: “tragically lost his life yesterday! Please remember to pray for his family.”
In his first eight matches, Isiah prevailed against Roshawn Jones and Kenneth Ross.
He switched back to Roshawn Jones for his final match, a unanimous defeat to Andrew Murphy in points in July.
Isiah, according to The Ring, was training for a new fight before he passed away.
