Trevor Francis, a 69-year-old football legend, has sadly passed away. Francis’ family confirmed that he had passed away at his home in Marbella, close to Spain, following a heart attack.
Who was Helen Francis?
Trevor Francis, a legend in England and a star for Nottingham Forest who helped Brian Clough’s team win the 1979 European Cup, was married to Helen Francis.
The sad news of Trevor’s passing away from a heart attack at home was confirmed by his family on July 24, 2023.
“Trevor Francis has passed away at the age of 69,” read the statement. This morning, he suffered a heart attack in his Spanish apartment.
“On behalf of the family, I must say that we are all in shock over this. We’re all furious.
In addition to being a legendary football player, he was also very kind. Before Helen’s tragic death in 2017, the couple had been together for 45 years. Francis was devastated by her loss.
In his autobiography, One In A Million, Francis described how life without Helen had been “so difficult” in the wake of the tragic loss. Francis acknowledged that for two years he felt unprepared to talk about his wife.
The legendary football player defended himself by saying, “I just didn’t think I could do it, and right now I’m not finding this conversation very easy. However, two years have since passed.
It’s difficult because of my intense love for Helen and the fact that I am useless at home, he continued. She went out of her way for me. I have no problem saying that.
“All of a sudden, I’m living alone, which is probably something I never thought would ever happen. The challenge is more difficult than any I’ve ever encountered in football.”
The late actor seems to have preferred to keep his family life private, as little is known about their marriage other than the fact that he spoke openly about the pain of losing his wife.

As was already mentioned, little is known about the couple’s family situation. Francis does, however, leave behind two children that he had with Helen.
