An actress to be was killed in a terrifying head-on collision, but her twin sister was hurt when their vehicle was forced into the path of a lorry.
Tuesday’s five-vehicle collision on the Port River Expressway in Adelaide regrettably claimed the life of 26-year-old Erica Hoy.
The woman was travelling with her twin sister Lisa and her boyfriend Mike Reader, both of whom sustained significant injuries in the collision.
Following an acting class, the trio was driving home when their car allegedly was slammed in the back by another motorist, according to news.com.au.
Five other vehicles, including a lorry, were propelled into the path of their red Toyota Prius.
Images from the tragic crash reveal the car to be entirely destroyed.
While her boyfriend and sister-in-law were brought to the hospital with critical injuries, Erica passed away at the site.
In 2015, the twin sisters relocated to Adelaide from Japan to pursue their studies.
A recent movie in which Erica starred was screened at the Adelaide Film Festival.
Greg Hoy, her grieving father, has paid homage to his daughter and called her a “young, optimistic person.”
He told The Advertiser: “She never gave us anything to worry about.
“I’m glad she didn’t pass away alone.”
He continued: “She was coming back from an acting course … when it happened.”
A woman has been detained in the interim in relation to the fatal collision.
The 38-year-old Carlie Eileen Richards was charged with causing the collision and attempting to flee the scene.
She faces a number of charges, including three counts of causing harm by hazardous driving, causing death by dangerous driving, and fleeing the scene of the accident.
