After a pregnant mother was discovered dead on the street in a Florida residential area, a family was heartbroken.
The 23-month-old kid of Alana Sims was found dozing off next to her body in the car. On Tuesday, Alana was publicly recognised by her bereaved family members, who also disclosed that she was five months pregnant.
“Alana was the best person you could be around. She wasn’t around drama,” Shahlevi Sims tells PEOPLE about her daughter, who was found dead by the Tampa Police Department outside her Ford EcoSport SUV with upper body trauma Monday night.
“She stayed to herself you know just a real down-to-earth person,” Shahlevi says. “She loved being around her nieces, she loved her son and her family.”
When the cops arrived, Alana’s son was in his car seat in the back of the car. The toddler, who will turn two in a month, was uninjured and is currently in her family’s care.
Tuesday, Tampa PD spokesperson Crystal Clark told 10 Tampa Bay that Sim’s death is thought to have been the result of a targeted attack. She continued, “I can tell you that while she was laying on the ground, it appeared like she had been dead for a while.”
According to the department’s news announcement on Alana’s passing, homicide detectives are still looking into the case. When PEOPLE asked Tampa PD for comment, they did not get back to them right away.
The $4000 target of a GoFundMe campaign started to aid with funeral expenses for Alana has been surpassed. A caring mother with a son who she loved dearly, Alana is characterised in the GoFundMe as thus.
