Following the conviction of XXXTentacion’s alleged killers, the rapper’s girlfriend issued a statement.
Jenesis Sanchez, the mother of XXXTentacion’s son Gekyume, wrote a touching Instagram post on Monday in response to the guilty verdict in the XXXTentacion murder trial.
“After 5 long years you may finally rest in peace. Gekyume will never get to meet you earthside but it is my job as a mother to ensure I share the special memories with him. Jah was robbed of his life and Geky was robbed of his father. For this I will never truly have complete peace but justice being served today helps the healing process. Thank you for the love and support I am eternally grateful for all the supporters, your positivity and prayers have carried me these last 5 years, ” she wrote.
Who is Jenesis Sanchez?
Jenesis Sanchez was born in Providence, Rhode Island in 2001. When she was a child, she moved to Tampa, Florida, with her parents and has lived there ever since.
In 2018, Sanchez began dating XXXTentacion. The two had known each other for a long time. She revealed that they met at a party because a mutual friend introduced them.
Sanchez moved from Tampa to Parkland in February 2018 to be closer to her boyfriend. Gekyume is the couple’s son. She then revealed that she needed an emergency C-section to give birth to her baby boy and didn’t want to add to her stress at the time.
Sanchez claims that before the rapper’s untimely death, she and XXXTentacion had already decided on names for their child.
If it were a female, they would have called her Xiorra after a character from the video game ‘Kingdom Hearts’.
Sanchez gave birth to a baby boy named Gekyume on January 26, 2019. Gek-yoom (pronounced Gek-yoom).
“Gekyume means different state or next universe of thought,” she explained. And, sure, Jahseh chose this name before he died.”
“I realize it’s difficult to say, Gekyume. So he’s known as Yume.”
Sanchez describes herself and XXXTentacion’s actual name, Jahesh Onfroy, as “hermit crabs” who “didn’t go out much.”
She remembers spending hours playing video games at home with the late rapper, before commenting on how she will raise up their son: “I’m definitely not going to ever lie about him. He’s going to hear about his dad 24/7.”
“I’m going to tell him about all the fond memories I have with his dad, Jahseh. I’m going to tell him how much his dad would have loved him. I know sometimes, probably when he gets older, it will affect him more than now when he is younger, but he’s definitely going to know about his father,” Sanchez added.
