Tommy Wayne Boyd was brought from the Potosi Correctional Facility to Mercy Hospital South for treatment on Wednesday, September 20, 2023.
However, he was last seen by Mercy Hospital workers at approximately 3.54 a.m. on Thursday, September 21.
Officers from the Affton Southwest Precinct were called to Mercy Hospital South around 4.30 a.m.The police were called to the hospital in the 10000 block of Kennerly Road, St Louis, MO 63128, after receiving a complaint of a person escaping from detention.
Boyd was then seen on surveillance video leaving the hospital on foot and “traveling in an unknown direction,” according to the Louis County Police Department on Facebook.
The police images showed Boyd strolling down a hospital hallway wearing a black hoodie or jacket, shorts, and orange slippers.
“He should be considered dangerous. It is unknown if he is armed,” the department said. “Anyone seeing Boyd should immediately call 911.”
While the residents have been urged to be aware of their surroundings.

Tommy Wayne Boyd who is 5’7″ with balding hair and beard was being guarded by two Missouri Department of Corrections officers when he escaped, a hospital spokesperson said in a statement to NBC News.
“There was no physical confrontation, no one was hurt and video surveillance shows the escapee leaving the hospital,” the statement said.
“While there is no evidence he is still on the hospital campus, to ensure the safety of everyone, we are conducting a complete search of all our buildings.”
According to authorities, Boyd, who is serving a 30-year sentence, was condemned to statutory sodomy.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Boyd committed first-degree statutory sodomy in October 1996, when the victim was only 11 years old and Boyd was 18.
