The Conservative party has selected Susan Hall as its candidate for mayor of London.
In the 2024 municipal election, the politician will face off against Sadiq Khan, the mayor of the Labour Party.
Who is Susan Hall?
London’s Harrow is where Susan Hall is from. The Conservative politician claimed that after graduating from high school, she began working in her father’s garage because she had always wanted to be a mechanic.
Near her childhood home in North West London, she runs a hair salon.
Susan Hall has held what positions?
Susan was chosen to serve on Harrow Council in 2006 and later served as its leader from 2013 to 2014. Since her election to the legislature in 2017, she has served in the London Assembly in Kemi Badenoch’s place, as a cabinet minister.
In 2018, Hall was appointed deputy leader of the London Assembly Conservatives. From 2019 to 2023, he led the party.
She has publicly backed both Liz Truss’ divisive mini-budget and former British prime minister Boris Johnson.
Hall has been a steadfast supporter of a hard Brexit as well as Suella Braverman’s views on immigration.
Susan Hall is slated to run for mayor of London at what time?
In July 2023, Hall was announced as the Conservative Party’s candidate for mayor of London. She was elected by London Conservative Party members, defeating Mozammel Hossain with 57% of the vote.
The date for the mayoral election is set for May 4, 2034. Susan declared in a statement that running as the Conservative candidate for mayor of London was a “huge honor.”
“I am so appreciative of everyone’s support,” she said.
“I also want to commend Moz for his successful and valiant campaign.
I’ll put in endless effort over the ensuing months to defeat Sadiq Khan and bring about the necessary change for Londoners.
In an interview with The Sun in July 2023, Hall referred to Mr. Khan as a sexist with a woman issue.
If she defeats the Labour Mayor in the election, she has vowed to revoke the ULEZ expansion on the first day.
Combating crime and the housing crisis are listed as two of her top priorities on her campaign website.
