SIAN Welby’s career skyrocketed after it was reported she had been hired as the primary presenter of This Morning.
The well-known radio personality has now taken on the role of host of ITV’s flagship show.
Who is Sian Welby?
Sian was born in Sheffield on September 3, 1986, and is a broadcaster who has worked on both radio and television.
She got her big break at the age of 19, when a featured role in an advert for New! Magazine drew the attention of former Channel 5 owner Richard Desmond.
Sian was then introduced as the new face of Channel 5 News in November 2010.
She has since switched to radio, hosting shows on Heart and Capital.
What is Sian Welby known for?
Sian is best known for hosting the Capital FM Breakfast show alongside Roman Kemp.
She joined the show in 2020, replacing Vick Hope, who had departed the show.
Sian previously aired her own program on Heart FM, presented the Health Lottery drawings on Channel 5, and hosted the channel’s weather briefings.
She is a stand-in host for the entire week (January 22–26, 2024).
Sian has been chosen to co-host the show with Dermot O’Leary, as ITV executives conduct ‘live auditions’ to select a replacement for Holly Willoughby.
Before her first show (on January 22, 2204), she hinted at “carnage” as she prepared to take on TV’s most desired role.
Sian appeared worried in an Instagram video, saying: “I’m trying to be cool, calm, and collected, but I’m hosting This Morning tomorrow!
“I can’t believe this, I’m on the actual main show.
“I don’t know who allowed this. Am I ready? Am I a liability?”
Sian went on: “I will be with Dermot on Monday on This Morning.
“Tune in if you want to see the carnage that could happen, because honestly, at this moment, I don’t know what could happen.
“I’m just gonna wing it!”
Sian’s previous job on This Morning as entertainment reporter saw her follow in the footsteps of Rylan Clark and Ferne McCann who previously hosted the showbiz section on the programme.
Whilst the format was rested for a few years, she was chosen to take on the role when it was brought back in 2023.
It seems that she has certainly impressed too after being picked to front the main show.
Meanwhile, Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield’s departures have left This Morning without a permanent presenter.
Rochelle Humes, Mollie King, Josie Gibson, Cat Deeley, Emma Willis, and Christine Lampard have all expressed interest in the job, with Sian joining the long list of potential newcomers.
