For years, GYMNAST Shallon Olsen has made Canada happy.
The 22-year-old Alabama Crimson Tide star is a two-time Olympian with multiple college and foreign accomplishments.
Olsen participates on the balance beam, vault, and floor exercise.
She began dancing when she was three years old.
According to Gymnastics Canada, the British Columbia native has grown so fond of the sport that she now teaches it at birthday celebrations.
Shallon is now a two-time Commonwealth Games winner (team and vault) and a World Championships silver medalist on vault.
After joining Alabama’s women’s gymnastics squad in the autumn of 2018, she earned All-SEC honours in 2019 and 2021.
After defeating Olivia Dunne’s LSU to win the SEC championship in 2021, Olsen was named to the Championships All-American First Team on vault.
Shallon has amassed a substantial following on social media, with 27,800 fans on Instagram.
The Alabama star has a long way to go before she can equal Dunne’s millions of admirers.
Nonetheless, when the Crimson Tide athlete shares life and job updates on the social media platform, admirers frequently shower her with praises.
Olsen and Team Canada gymnasts earned third at the Pan American Championships in Brazil last year.
Later, Shallon stunned her admirers with photos taken on a Rio de Janeiro beach of her posing in the balmy seas of the South Atlantic Ocean.
One wrote: “My tablet just got heat warning.”
Another added: “Billion smiles & yours is my favourite.
And a third said: “Flawless.”
Shallon also shared her Olympic sorrow on Instagram.
Olsen, who made the vault final and finished last as the youngest member of Canada’s Olympic squad at the age of 16, returned to the final in the same event two years ago in Tokyo.
But she only improved marginally on her 2016 finish, finishing eighth and missing the team competition final for the second time.
“This was my ONLY shot at getting a medal for my country, and I feel like I let myself down in a lot of ways,” Shallon later wrote in an Instagram post.
And she continued: “I sacrificed so much to be here, just to have it slap me in the face.
However, Olsen’s Olympic mishaps cannot eclipse her professional achievements, as demonstrated by the endorsement agreement she struck with the sportswear brand GK Elite in March.
Shallon’s hobbies outside of athletics include reading, word searches, baking, bicycling, and heading to the theatres.
