Who is Senator Azam Swati? Biography, Wife and Political Career

Born on June 22, 1948, Azam Swati is a Pakistani politician and businessman who is a member of the Mitravi Swatis Bato Khel tribe. From 2006 to 2011, he served as the Federal Minister for Science and Technology[2] and a senator in Pakistan. He was chosen to serve as the Pakistan Tehreek-e-senior Insaf’s vice president. [3] During his time in the country, Swati ran a chain of stores, served in the Pakistani American Congress, and participated in prominent philanthropic activities. He was born in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He joined the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam.

On December 17, 2011, Azam Khan Swati left the Senate and the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam joined the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). [4] Swati zealously prosecuted the Hajj corruption case at the Supreme Court, and as a result, the former religious affairs minister Hamid Saeed Kazmi was fired by the administration. [Reference needed] On the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf ticket, he was once more elected to the Senate in the 2018 election. [5] From 18 April 2019 to 6 April 2020, he was the Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs in Prime Minister Imran Khan’s administration.

Azam Khan was born in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province .He initially began his profession as a lawyer in Karachi, but in 1978 he moved to the US. [Reference needed] His Pak-Oil Company was founded in 1997, the same year he also secured a jobber-ship for Exxon, Chevron, Mobil, Shell, and Diamond Shamrock. Along with his wholesale and petroleum distribution businesses, he also owns substantial real estate holdings in the Beaumont-Golden Triangle region and the neighbouring state of Louisiana.

Education

He graduated from the University of Houston with a B.S. in economics and political science as well as an LL.B. and LL.M. in international law. Dr. of Jurisprudence from the South Texas College of Law in 1990. After passing the Texas bar exam, she was admitted to the Texas bar as an attorney.

Political Career

In 2001, Mr. Swati returned to Pakistan and won the position of mayor of District Mansehra. Mr. Swati willingly left his position as mayor in 2003 after President Musharaf declared the Referendum. Later, when the Senate election was announced, he was elected senator with the most votes as an independent candidate. Following his election, he joined JUI-F. The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl party was his opponent. On the JUI ticket, Mr. Swati was once more elected to the Senate for a second term. On December 17, 2011, Azam Khan Swati left the Senate and the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (JUI-F) merged with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

After joining PTI, he was selected as senior vice president and helped to successfully conduct the party’s historic Dharna. Mr. Swati received the PTI nomination for KPK province president as a result of his political efforts. He received the PTI Senate ticket in May 2015 and won election to the Senate a third time. The Hazara University was founded in Mr. Swati’s native District of Mansehra, and he also actively opposed corruption in Pakistan at all levels and in all forums. He also served on the Standing Committee on Commerce, the Functional Committee on Government Assurance, the Standing Committee on Health, the Committee on Petroleum and Natural Resources, and the Functional Committee on Problems of Less Developed Areas.

In December 2020, He was appointed as Federal Minister for Railways
