The amazing new season of Cobra Kai features several well-known characters, a few amusing surprises (how awesome was the Amanda LaRusso-related REDACTED reveal from Episode 5?! ), and Kim Da-Eun is introduced as the first female sensei on the programme.
In the sixth episode (“Ouroboros”) of the current season, Alicia Hannah-fearsome Kim’s martial arts master is hired by Terry Silver, the Cobra Kai impresario. Da-Eun, who is the granddaughter of master sensei Kim Sun-Yung, embodies Cobra Kai’s brutal “no mercy” mindset and exudes the “Way of the Fist” ethos. The actress discussed the distinction of playing the first female sensei on the show in a recent interview with ETOnline.
“It’s such an honor for me and a privilege to be in that universe, especially to inhabit the shoes of the first female sensei,” Hannah-Kim said. “It’s really, hugely meaningful for me on a personal level, not only to represent women but specifically Asian women.”
