Sam Bankman-Fried, the creator of FTX, was ordered to jail on Friday to await trial after a judge was convinced during his bail hearing for the disgraced cryptocurrency expert that he had repeatedly attempted to influence witnesses against him.
U.S. District Judge Lewis A. Kaplan revoked Bankman-Fried’s bail after charging him with trying to intimidate a key witness in his fraud case last month by showing a reporter her private writings and in January by getting in touch with FTX’s general counsel over an encrypted message.
