On Wednesday’s episode of “The Beat” on MSNBC, hosted by Ari Melber, a previously unreleased video showed Republican operative Roger Stone appearing to transcribe a document.
This document allegedly outlined a criminal scheme to elect disloyal voters to Washington. The alleged plan was put together by former President Donald Trump and his allies in order to influence the outcome of the 2020 election.
Roger Stone: Who is he?
American political consultant and lobbyist Roger Jason Stone, who was born on August 27, 1952, is well-known for his work on behalf of conservative causes. Throughout the 1970s, Stone actively participated in the campaigns of a number of Republican candidates, including well-known names like Richard Nixon, Ronald Reagan, Jack Kemp, Bob Dole, George W. Bush, and Donald Trump. Throughout his career, he has frequently provided campaign advice in addition to engaging in political lobbying.
In 1980, Stone, Paul Manafort, and Charles R. Black Jr. founded a lobbying firm in Washington, D.C. The business changed and eventually adopted the name Black, Manafort, Stone, and Kelly (BMSK) when Peter G. Kelly was hired in 1984.
In 1998, when he was representing Trump’s casino business as a lobbyist in Washington, he made his first suggestion that Donald Trump run for president.
Although Stone’s involvement in the Trump campaign was officially over on August 8, 2015, controversy surrounded it throughout the 2016 presidential campaign. According to two unnamed associates, Julian Assange, the founder of WikiLeaks, and Roger Stone allegedly collaborated to discredit Hillary Clinton. Stone and Assange vehemently denied these assertions. Following developments in April 2020 led to the discovery of about thirty search warrants, which revealed communications between Stone and Assange in 2017.
On January 25, 2019, authorities detained Roger Stone at his residence in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. This arrest was connected to the ongoing investigation being carried out by Robert Mueller’s Special Counsel team. He was accused of witness tampering, obstructing an official investigation, and five counts of making false statements, according to an indictment.
