A bereaved family was forced to grieve their loved one after her life was cut short under mysterious circumstances.
Sarah Sweeney is Robert Daus’ second fiancée to die at his home.
Who is Missouri firefighter Robert Daus?
Robert Daus is a fireman and captain from St. Louis County, Missouri.
Daus had already been engaged twice: first to Grace Holland and then to Sarah Sweeney.
Daus is also the defendant in a wrongful death lawsuit brought against him by Holland’s family.
According to Holland’s relatives, “one of two things happened that night.
“Either Robert Daus shot Grace Holland or Grace Holland took her life after years of being subjected to physical and mental abuse by Robert Daus.
“Either way, Robert Daus Jr. is liable for the wrongful death of Grace Holland.
“Prior to her death, Grace had been in a relationship with Daus for four years and had been engaged for two years.
“Their relationship was marred by psychological and physical abuse.”
Despite the Holland family’s complaint, Daus has not been charged with a crime.
He has not been named as a suspect in either Holland or Sarah Sweeney’s deaths.
What happened to Grace Holland?
On July 22, 2020, 35-year-old Grace died from a gunshot wound to the head at Daus’ home in Creve Coeur, Missouri.
Police attributed her cause of death to suicide but her family believes differently.
Regarding Grace’s passing, her twin sister Laura Holland told The U.S. Sun: “I feel responsible.
“I feel like I didn’t do enough with Grace’s case.”
Laura also mentioned her sister’s relationship with Daus and added: “There is a history of domestic violence…she documented it.
“I had taken Grace away from him four times. I’d move her in and out of his house, and he’d always come back.
“It was this controlling relationship of love bombing and then tearing her down.”
Who was Sarah Sweeney?
Sarah Sweeney, born November 2, 1984, was a doctor and podiatrist from Huntington, West Virginia.
After living in Florida and Texas, she established a clinic in Creve Coeur, Missouri.Sarah, 39, died on January 13, 2024, in the home she shared with her fiancé.
The investigation into her death is still ongoing.
