Jwan Yosef, Ricky Martin’s six-year husband, and he are divorcing one another. In a joint statement released on Thursday, the couple shared the news.
“We have decided to end our marriage with love, respect, and dignity for our children and honoring what we have experienced as a couple all these wonderful years,” the Puerto Rican superstar and the Syrian-Swedish artist tell People Magazine in a joint statement. “Our greatest desire now is to continue having a healthy family dynamic and a relationship centered on peace and friendship to continue the joint upbringing of our children, preserving the respect and love we have for each other.”
The couple has two kids together: a son named Renn was born in 2019 and a daughter named Lucia was born in 2018.
Who is Jwan Yosef?
Swedish painter Jwan Yosef is of Syrian descent. He is based in London, England, and has a focus on plastic arts. His family moved to Sweden when he was two years old. Later, he pursued a painting education in Stockholm’s Pernby School of Painting. He then relocated to Stockholm’s Konstfack University College of Arts, Crafts, and Design.
Painting about Sex, Flesh, and Violence, lol at the DIVUS Gallery in London and High Notes at the Galleri Anna Thulin in Stockholm were the titles of his two solo shows in 2013. In Archway, North London, The Bomb Factory Art Foundation, he is a founder member and studio occupant.
He first connected with Martin on Instagram in 2015, and six months after their first face-to-face encounter in London, the two started dating. During the 2016 amFAR Inspiration Gala’s red carpet arrivals, they made their relationship official. They also declared their engagement in the same year. They were wed in 2018.
The “Livin’ La Vida Loca” singer revealed his marriage during an interview with E! News in January 2018. “I’m a husband, but we’re doing a heavy party in a couple of months,” he said to the site. We exchanged vows, we swear everything, and we signed all the necessary documents, including prenuptial agreements.
