Following a provocative social media post made by one of its employees, AIR Canada faced criticism.
What follows is important information for Canadians regarding the pilot’s future with the company.
Who is former Air Canada pilot Mostafa Ezzo?
Pilot Mostafa Ezzo, a First Officer, was formerly with Air Canada.
He was headquartered in Montreal and operated a branded B787 aircraft when employed by the airline.
His social media profiles were removed shortly after the firm abruptly sacked him in October 2023.
More information about his personal life is currently unknown.
Why was Mostafa Ezzo fired from Air Canada?
On October 11, 2023, Air Canada announced that Ezzo had been let go on X, the platform that used to be known as Twitter.
“We can confirm the pilot in question no longer works for Air Canada, following the process initiated on Monday,” the business stated in a letter.
After an online photo of Ezzo purportedly showing him in a uniform with pro-Palestinian colors went viral, the decision was made to terminate him.
In addition, Instagram screenshots of a man identified as Ezzo during a pro-Palestine demonstration featuring references to Adolf Hitler were shared by the organization StopAntiSemitism.org, as reported by CTV News.
According to reports, the photo was shot at a protest in Dorchester Square the day after Israel was attacked by Hamas.
After over 700 people were killed in the unexpected attack, Israel declared war on Hamas.
Ezzo hasn’t responded to the posts or Air Canada’s decision to terminate him as of yet.
In a statement, the union representing Air Canada pilots said they were “incredibly saddened by the tragedies in the Middle East. We condemn all violence and hatred, and any promotion thereof,” according to CTV News.
“It is our firm expectation that all of our members abide by this principle and our professional code of ethics,” the statement added.
