After speaking out about her “abusive” relationship with murder victim Paul Murdaugh, MORGAN DOUGHTY has gained notoriety.
True crime enthusiasts were on the edge of their seats as a result of the 23-year-explosive old’s interview on Netflix’s most recent documentary series, Murdaugh Murders: A Southern Scandal.
Who is Morgan Doughty?
Former girlfriend of Paul Murdaugh and dental hygienist from Hampton, South Carolina, Morgan Doughty.
During their junior year of high school, she started dating Paul.
Prior to his passing, Paul took part in a fatal boat crash in 2019 that claimed the life of Mallory Beach, who was 19 years old.
Morgan Doughty spoke extensively about the incident and her relationship with the family in the new gripping documentary series Murdaugh Murders, which brought up the alleged boat murder again.
After Paul passed away, Morgan Doughty discussed her “toxic” friendship with the murder victim.
On June 7, 2021, Paul and his mother Maggie, 52, were discovered shot multiple times in their family hunting lodge in Moselle, South Carolina.
Alex Murdaugh, 54, is on trial for the double murder of his wife and son in the fifth week after a protracted investigation yielded several significant pieces of evidence.
However, following Doughty’s interview, shocking allegations regarding Paul’s personality came to light.
Paul, according to Doughty, was an abusive partner.
According to Daily Mail, she claimed that the 22-year-old choked her during one argument and punched her in the face.
She said: “I think that our relationship is just something that I really clung to just because when it was good, it was really good.
“But when it was bad, it was really bad.”
Doughty claimed in the interview that the relationship between the two was rocky because they frequently broke up and then reconciled over a number of weekends.
When Paul’s older brother, Buster, graduated, Doughty claimed that their fights had escalated to the point of becoming physical.
She claimed Paul was drunk and that he kicked her and told her to shut up.
She said: “He got on top of me and I just remember him screaming, ‘I told you to shut up’
“Just holding down my throat, I just remember then he punched me really hard in the knee.”
Additionally, she claimed that on the day he was charged with operating and crashing the family boat in 2019, Paul spat and allegedly slapped her.
The same year, Doughty claimed she was driving a drunk Paul home in his truck for Christmas when he “aggressively” demanded to take the wheel.
After that, Paul lost control of the vehicle and it slammed into a ditch, sending beer cans and firearms flying.
Doughty claimed that while she was trying to dial 911 for assistance, Paul allegedly grabbed her phone and hung up, speaking to Alex and his grandfather Randolph instead.
She described how Alex, Randolph, and Maggie arrived on the scene in a timely manner and removed the firearms and beer cans.
The family allegedly told Doughty off for calling the police after that.
