Who is Mirra Andreeva?
Russian tennis player Mirra Andreeva competes professionally.
She reached her career-high singles ranking of No. 101 with the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) in June 2023.
In Turkey in April 2022, she earned her maiden International Tennis Federation (ITF) victory.
Andreeva upset Leylah Fernandez, who had reached the final of the 2021 US Open, in her WTA 1000 debut in Madrid in 2023.
Later, Andreeva competed in her first Grand Slam tournament at the French Open, where she was defeated in the third round by seventh seed Coco Gauff.
In addition to making her main draw debut at the 2023 Wimbledon Championships in July, Andreeva is causing a stir in the tennis world.
Professional tennis player Erika Andreeva is her sister.
But even with her accomplishments, Andreeva occasionally experiences star-struck moments, especially when it comes to sporting superstar Andy Murray.
Andreeva disclosed in July 2023 that she had met Murray at Wimbledon but had refrained from speaking to him due to shyness.
She said: ”I met Andy Murray here. But I’m too shy to talk to him.
”When I see him, I try to leave the facility super quick just to not talk to him because I’m super shy.”
Andreeva previously revealed that one of the benefits of playing at such huge events is that she gets to spend time with some of her idols.
Asked to describe her favourite thing about competing at the Madrid Open, Andreeva told the Tennis Channel: ”When you’re here & take a lunch with all these stars, you see Andy Murray… you see his face & he’s so beautiful in life. He is so amazing.”
Responding to the comments, Murray shared a clip of her interview and joked: ”Imagine how good she’s going to be when she gets her eyes fixed.”
