Michael Palacios, who was accused with fourth-degree criminal mischief and having weapons in his possession, was arraigned on September 18 and later freed without posting bond. The state’s mild criminal justice reforms do not permit bail for either of the accusations, according to the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office.
Early on Friday, Michael Palacios, 31, caused chaos at a nearby McDonald’s in New York City. Videos of the incident show the man menacing other diners with an axe before doing damage to the establishment. In the instance, an ax-wielding Palacios crushed two tables and a plate-glass divider, which was detailed in the criminal complaint.
According to the criminal complaint, Palacios also told NYPD officers:
“I have a pocket knife in my bike.”
In Kathy Hochul’s New York, you can walk into McDonald’s, use your axe to hack up tables and walls, swinging it wildly at other customers, and be released from custody before your fries get cold.
Cashless bail must be repealed! Judges need discretion to weigh dangerousness. https://t.co/uFM0PbpTcY

What did Michael Palacios do?
When Michael Palacios went on a rampage while brandishing an axe, a late-night McDonald’s lunch turned violent. Witnesses recorded videos of the whole incident, which demonstrate how a verbal argument escalated into a physical brawl that ended in threats.
The Bronx man is seen in the video taking punches from a trio of other individuals. The smirking Palacios quickly reverses the situation. He makes a threat to injure his assailants by pulling an axe out of his backpack. With the axe still in hand, he even approaches a terrified woman and says:
Although nobody on the scene reported any injuries, things could have gotten messy. Shakes McGoo, a TikTok user who saw the chaos, commented:
An Uber Eats delivery person, who also saw the commotion take place, provided The Post with information that was not included in the films that have been going viral online. According to reports, Michael Palacios frequently approached a woman before the ax-throwing pandemonium and was’rejected’ by her. He was unfazed by the rejection and persisted in harassing the woman.
