Matt Amodio, a JEOPARDY! veteran, has jokingly said that his chances of winning the upcoming special of the game show, which was revealed on Wednesday, are poor.
He wrote on Twitter that playing Jeopardy! Masters will imply, at best, “finishing second” to James Holzhauer.
Jeopardy! When it revealed Jeopardy! Masters on Wednesday, it generated a tonne of interest.
The six competitors who are regarded as its “highest ranked” players are included in the primetime special approved by ABC.
The game show sealed the deal by posting a photo with the phrase “The stakes have never been higher” and a chess emoji, hinting at the return of the special’s six stars-looking game.
“Can’t wait to find out what the award is for the one of us who finishes second to James,” Matt wrote as he reshared the image with the implication that the contest was already over.
Fans had a laugh but were surprised Matt was so down on himself and his peers.
“Don’t sell yourself short, Matt!” one follower replied.
“Who says someone will be second to James? You just never know,” wrote another.
“I think you can still give him a run for his money!” reassured a third follower.
“More like Amy [Schneider]” wrote a fourth.
A fifth joked: “Knowing James – the prize is probably that he trolls you on Twitter semi-regularly.”
And a sixth simply exclaimed: “This is going to be epic! The personalities and player skills make this an incredible bunch of Jeopardy contestants!.”
