After confessing to sexually assaulting a former student, Texas teacher Marka Bodine received a 60-day jail term. However, due to the fact that she had just given birth, her punishment was delayed.
According to ABC13 Houston, Harris County Judge George Glass put the former Tomball ISD instructor on probation on Wednesday, August 3.
After confessing to molestation of the child for three years, she was also given ten years probation.
Who Is Marka Bodine? Teacher had Sex with Students for 60 Days
At Tomball Intermediate School, Marka Bodine, 32, taught choir. She was given a 60-day prison sentence on Tuesday for having sex with a student.
In April 2021, she was detained and accused of sexually assaulting a kid, according to ABC13. She admitted to intentionally sexually abusing a youngster under the age of 14.
She also admitted to having known the student for three years, starting when he was only 12 years old.
The boy attended Bodine’s sixth-grade class, according to court documents. The student claimed that while playing Fortnite, Bodine became his friend and afterwards started contacting him.
They first had sex in April 2018, just after the student turned 13 years old. He told the police that they had many instances of sexual contact in both her car and classroom.
Bodine relocated to the student’s apartment building following her divorce. Until March 2021, Bodine drove two to four times a month after the student and his family moved to Houston’s southside in July 2018.
She admitted to emailing the boy 25 to 40 pornographic photos and videos of herself between April 2020 and February 2021.
After sexually molesting a student, Marka Bodine will only spend 60 days in jail and 10 years on probation. The Harris County Judge George Glass’s Tuesday sentence has angered the district attorney’s office.
The victim informed the school and Tomball police about the allegations in April 2021. Before the allegations, Bodine told her principal that the kid was bullying her and making threats to harm herself.
According to People, she also alleged that he obtained private photos of her and used them to control her.
Marka Bodine received a 10-year probation term as well as two months in jail from Judge Greg Glass. She must register as a sex offender and go through counseling.
Her mugshot has been posted online by the police.
Bodine received an additional year before having to return to the Harris County Jail to complete her term, according to court documents, because she had just given birth, according to KXXV. The child’s father is not the victim.
Bodine’s sentence should have been lengthened, according to Crimes Against Children Division chief and Assistant District Attorney for Harris County Janna Oswald.
She should receive a term of 20 to 40 years in prison, according to Oswald. Given the seriousness of the crime, its long-term effects, and its influence on the child’s life.
“In my perspective, there are certain sorts of incidents that should only deserve punishment, and this is one of them,” Oswald concluded.
“My heart goes out to the complainant and his family.” I’m really unhappy with the decision as a prosecutor a child abuse prosecutor and as a Harris County resident.”
A former Texas teacher accused of sexually assaulting a former student in 2021 has been sentenced to 60 days in jail, but not immediately because she recently had a baby.

Criminal defence lawyer Christopher Downey of ABC13 claims that the verdict was probably influenced by the defendant’s testimony and her gender.
He continued, “I think that whatever psychological data they provided to the court may have influenced this punishment. “By all accounts, this is an unusual result.”
“I’m sure the defendant’s gender and the fact that she was accused of having sex with a small child will also play a factor,” the defendant said.
