TREVOR LAWRENCE hopes to make his ‘First Lady of Duval’ proud by reaching the Super Bowl this season.
Marissa Mowry, the Jaguars quarterback’s wife and high school sweetheart, will be cheering him on from the sidelines during the NFL playoffs.
Lawrence orchestrated a spectacular comeback in the Wildcard round, as the Jags rallied from a 27-7 halftime deficit.
In a stunning reversal, he passed for 211 yards and three touchdowns, propelling Jacksonville into their first Divisional game since 2017.
And to celebrate, Marissa took Trevor and some of his teammates to a local Waffle House for an amazing meal.
From their humble origins in Cartersville, Georgia, the couple has come a long way.
Mowry and Lawrence met in high school and began dating in May 2016.
Marissa demonstrated her abilities on the soccer field while Trevor was making his mark on the football field.
Her passion for the game began at the age of five, and she went on to succeed as a tough-tackling midfielder in college.
Marissa attended Anderson University, where she earned a degree in public relations and appeared in 25 games for the Trojans.
With Trevor playing at Clemson, which was only a short drive away, the pair was constantly there to support each other.
Lawrence proposed to his future wife in the summer of 2020, dedicating an emotional Instagram message to her.
He wrote: “FOREVER. You’re everything I’ve dreamed of.
“I love you and can’t wait to marry you.”
While Marissa added: “When I sat down and thought about our engagement day I just got overwhelmed with thankfulness that 1) I get to marry my best friend 2) He had the most detailed, sweet proposal planned.
“I have so many amazing friends who celebrated us all weekend and received so much love from everyone.”
In April 2021, the pair married in a beautiful South Carolina wedding.
Lawrence was taken first overall by the Jaguars in the 2021 NFL Draft only months later.
He passed for over 10,000 yards and 90 touchdowns in three seasons with the Clemson Tigers.
His first season with the Jaguars was a rough one, with the club finishing 3-14.
After a 9-8 regular season, Lawrence led the team to the Divisional round of the playoffs in 2022.
Marissa, an aspiring model, has been a consistent supporter on social media, where she has 320k Instagram followers.
“We are going to the PLAYOFFS!!!” Trever tweeted after helping the Jaguars to their first playoff appearance since 2017. “We adore our Jaguars.”
And fans have swiftly embraced both Lawrence and his high school love.
One replied to a recent post: “I had no idea y’all had been together so long..high school sweethearts! It makes sense based on the affection you have and support you show for each other.”
While another added: “First Lady of Duval.”
And a third said: “I’m from Cartersville too and you guys make us proud!”
While a fourth simply said: “You are jaw-dropping.”
On Saturday, January 21, Jacksonville will face the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium.
The Jaguars will have the opportunity to snap a six-game losing streak against the Chiefs, which dates back to 2009.
