
Maria Macburnie, a woman from New Jersey, was arrested on suspicion of impersonating a doctor and allegedly engaging in the illegal practice of writing prescriptions for medication on Wednesday.
According to the prosecutor’s office, the woman from New Jersey was accused of prescribing drugs to patients without a prescription. The prescriptions allegedly had the name of one of her cousins on them and included those for illegal, harmful medications.

The age of Maria Macburnie is 62. She is a native of New Jersey. The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office has provided information indicating that She has been charged with a number of serious offenses as a result of her alleged activities. Three counts of supplying controlled dangerous drugs, document forgery, health care claim fraud, and practicing medicine without a license are among the charges.
The charges against the woman were jointly announced by Cheryl Ortiz, special agent in charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration’s New Jersey Division, and Bradley D. Billhimer, the prosecutor for Ocean County.
According to the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, Macburnie treated patients at Shore Medical Associates in Toms River, New Jersey, between March 2022 and June 2023. She is charged with assuming the identity of a legitimately licensed medical professional during this time by using the name of a relative. She has been accused of forgery, health care fraud, distribution of controlled dangerous substances, and practicing medicine without a license as a result of her actions.
