Organizing a campaign to discredit the women who have accused former New York governor Andrew Cuomo of sexual misconduct is the charge against Madeline Cuomo.
Madeline Cuomo: who is she?
Andrew Cuomo, the former governor of New York who is accused of sexual misconduct, has a sister named Madeline Cuomo. She was born in 1964, making her 58 years old at the moment.
Madeline is the child of Mario Cuomo, the former governor of New York, and Matilda Cuomo. She works as an attorney and has focused on matrimonial law. She is an Albany Law School alumna.
Madeline has now been accused of preparing a smear campaign against the women whose allegations of sexual harassment led to the demise of her brother’s career. She communicated frequently with a group of her brother’s supporters, who were primarily senior women. She reportedly encouraged them to disseminate “bimbo photos” of the “unsophisticated girls” who allegedly harassed her brother, according to the New York Times report that was published on Monday.
Whether Andrew Cuomo was aware of the plan is a mystery. But throughout her various messages, Madeline Cuomo made numerous allusions to her brother, who was the governor at the time. One of the messages said, “I just hung up with A again and he wants you both to know how much he appreciates ALL your hard work and willingness to get this out today on LABOR DAY of all days!!!!”
4,000 emails, texts, and voicemails between the younger sister of the former governor and We Decide New York, a pro-Cuomo group in upstate New York, are said to be the basis for the allegations.
After being accused of sexual harassment by numerous women, Cuomo resigned in August 2021. He was allegedly found to have made inappropriate comments and touched nearly a dozen women, including present and former government employees. Furthermore, it is alleged that after one of his accusers made her allegations public, Cuomo and his staff improperly retaliated against her.
In a statement to the Times, Madeline Cuomo admitted her involvement with We Deliver and stated her intention to “protect her family”. She further asserted that her brother wasn’t connected to anything. She claimed that she handled the women of WDNY independently and without his input in any way. Unfortunately, the group broke up as a result of internal disagreement, and I haven’t worked with them since.
