One of the richest women in the world and ex-wife of Jeff Bezos, MacKenzie Scott, has rekindled her love with a Seattle-area teacher.
Scott and Dan Jewett got married in 2021, though the specific day is unknown, according to the Wall Street Journal. After 25 years of marriage and four children, she and CEO of Amazon Jeff Bezos announced their separation in 2019; the merger came about two years later.
In a statement published on their profiles on the Giving Pledge, a movement that enjoins wealthy people to devote the majority of their income to charity, Scott and her new husband announced their marriage. Additionally, her Amazon author page was updated to reflect that she now resides in Seattle with her family.
He’s a science teacher
According to a statement by Head of School Percy Abram, Jewett spent the years from 2011 to 2016 teaching science at The Bush School in Seattle before joining the institution.
Jewett taught AP chemistry to Josh Verlin, a sportswriter from Philadelphia, at Harriton High School in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, from 2006 to 2007.
“He was involved, energetic, passionate, friendly, gregarious in a really earnest way,” says Verlin, 32. “He so clearly loved what he was doing, loved teaching and loved science, and enjoyed working with the students … He was very engaging, and you wanted to be in his class.”
After getting married, Jewett and Scott stayed in Seattle. Scott quickly updated her author bio on Amazon to say, “She lives in Seattle with her four children and her husband, Dan.” shortly after getting married.
