After passing suddenly at the age of 63, The Specials frontman leaves behind his distraught wife Lindy Heymann.
In his lifetime, Terry Hall was married twice; Lindy Heymann was his second spouse.
She is a British director with accolades.
After completing her studies at Central St Martins and earning a BA in fine art film, Lindy decided to pursue a career as a music video director.
For her first feature film, Showboy, she received a British Independent Film Award (BIFA) in 2002 for Best Directorial Debut. She is also renowned for The Laughing King (2016) and Kicks (2009).
Additionally, Lindy has directed episodes of the popular Netflix series The Worst Witch and Stay Close, starring James Nesbitt and Cush Jumbo.
When Lindy helmed the music video for Terry’s hit song Ballad of a Landlord from 1997, they first connected.
Although a precise date is unknown, it is said that they didn’t start dating until years later.
Additionally, it is unknown when they were wed.
Jeanette Hall, his childhood sweetheart, served as his first wife.
Before getting divorced in the middle of the 1990s, they were married for more than 20 years.
Orson, a son, was the only child the couple had; he was said to have been born in 2014.
But Terry and his first wife Jeanette had two additional kids.
Leo and Felix, his two boys from his relationship with her, make up the trio of children he had in his lifetime.
Following a “short illness,” Terry tragically passed away on December 19, 2022, at the age of 63.
“It is with great sadness that we announce the passing, following a brief illness, of Terry, our beautiful friend, brother and one of the most brilliant singers, songwriters and lyricists this country has ever produced,” the Specials tweeted
“Terry was a wonderful husband and father and one of the kindest, funniest, and most genuine of souls.”
“His music and his performances encapsulated the very essence of life… the joy, the pain, the humour, the fight for justice, but mostly the love.
“He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him and leaves behind the gift of his remarkable music and profound humanity.”
