On May 11, 2023, speculations started to spread that Yaccarino would be about to assume a new title.
The Wall Street Journal claimed on Thursday that Yaccarino is allegedly “in talks to become the new CEO of Twitter” from people familiar with the situation.
The New York Times also received information from an unnamed source that the negotiations between Yaccarino and Elon Musk are “at an advanced stage,” although the new CEO of the social media platform has not yet been formally announced.
Musk had previously stated in December 2022 that he intended to stand down as “Chief Twit” as soon as he found someone “foolish enough” to accept the position.
The announcement came after a poll on December 18 asking, “Should I resign as Twitter’s CEO? I’ll follow the findings of this poll.
The final poll result was 57.5 percent in favor of him resigning and 42.5 percent in favor of keeping his position.
Elon tweeted about his most recent choice for the company’s next CEO on May 11, 2023.
“Excited to announce that I’ve hired a new CEO for X/Twitter. She will be starting in ~6 weeks!” he wrote.
Twitter will continue to be owned by Musk.
