Jim ‘Mattress Mack’ McIngvale, proprietor of GALLERY Furniture, and his spouse Linda McIngvale have been together for more than 40 years.
Linda gained notoriety in October 2023 when she contributed a substantial sum to Olympic legend Mary Lou Retton’s fundraising campaign.
Who is Mattress Mack?
Jim ‘Mattress Mack’ McIngvale is an American businessman who was born in Starkville, Mississippi, on February 11, 1951. He is the owner of the retail chain Gallery Furniture.
He played football at both the University of Texas and the University of North Texas while he was a student there.
After being fired from his job at a convenience shop right out of college, he was even more determined to establish himself.
After that, Mack was hired by a furniture store, where he picked up skills related to his occupation.
Later, he made the decision to start his own furniture company.
Because he appeared in commercials for Gallery Furniture while wearing mattresses, he was given the moniker Mattress Mack.
Mack is said to have a $300 million net worth as a result of the company’s continued success.
Aside from his business, Mack is well-known for his sports wagering, exotic animal adoptions, and collection of rare antiques, which includes an old Lincoln automobile owned by Elvis Presley and a diamond necklace owned by Princess Diana.
Who is Mattress Mack’s wife, Linda McIngvale?
In 1981, Mattress Mack wed Linda, his spouse.
When Mack was just beginning to build his furniture empire, they were married.
Linda consented to accompany him to Houston on the understanding that they would get married.
Mack co-owns the Westside Tennis and Fitness Club, which is run by Linda.
The two served as executive producers of Chuck Norris’ 1992 movie Sidekicks, for which they provided funding.
Linda shares Mack’s passion for exotic animals because she assisted in India’s tiger’s rescue in 2021.
“They’re awesome animals, and it’s great to be able to have conversations about conservation and animals in the wild,” she told Fox26.
In addition, Linda serves on the board of directors of Peace of Mind, a group that offers OCD sufferers options.
Linda is “tirelessly fighting to stamp out the stigma of mental health as well as to find a cure to Obsessive Compulsive Disorder,” according to her bio on the website.
Her charitable endeavors are another reason for her reverence.
Notably, Linda gave $50,000 to Mary Lou Retton’s fundraising campaign.
The gold medallist from the Olympics is suffering from a rare kind of pneumonia, and her family has started an online fundraising page to assist with her medical expenses.
Who are their kids?
Elizabeth, Laura, and James McIngvale are the three known offspring of Mattress Mack and Linda.
Laura owns and operates two restaurants in Texas, and James works at Gallery Furniture alongside Mack.
In the meantime, Elizabeth founded Peace of Mind and is an advocate for mental health.
In addition to being an adjunct assistant professor at Baylor College of Medicine and an affiliate of Harvard Medical School, she directs the McLean OCD Institute in Houston.
