The 28-year-old backup quarterback, who is starting in place of injured starter Dak Prescott on Sunday in Dallas when the Cowboys play the AFC champion Bengals, will be making his second career start.
Here’s a peek at Rush’s biggest supporter, wife Lauryn Rush, as both teams strive for their first victory of the year.
Rush joined the Cowboys in 2017 as an undrafted free agent. That same year, Lauryn began to share snaps of the couple on Instagram, including the Hall of Fame game that summer, when Rush was under center against the Cardinals.
“It’s Jerry’s world & we’re just livin’ in it,” she quipped at the time.
The couple announced their engagement two years later in July 2019.
Rush was released by the Cowboys in May 2020 after Dallas signed Andy Dalton, a former Bengals quarterback. Later that month, the Giants, who had Jason Garrett as their offensive coordinator at the time, claimed him off waivers.
Rush underwent a change in scenery in addition to his marriage to Lauryn, which had a profound impact on his life. The couple wed in a private ceremony in Chicago in June 2020.
On September 11, 2022, Lauryn provided support for Rush at the Cowboys’ season-opening game versus the Buccaneers, adding some glitz to AT&T Stadium. Lauryn can be seen in an Instagram post sporting a dark tank top, denim cutoffs, and ornate knee-high boots.
“A moment for the boots,” she captioned her post.
