Love Island will return to our screens very soon with a fresh new cast of singles looking to discover someone who matches their personality on paper, so bid farewell to the January blues.
This time, the programme will be filmed in Cape Town, South Africa, and Maya Jama will take over as host of the recoupling ceremony and executive producer of the spin-off series Aftersun in place of Laura Whitmore.
Lana Jenkins, a make-up artist from Luton who has a profession in the entertainment industry, will be one of the participants searching for their ideal mate. She says, “I’ve worked with a number of celebrities in my career as a make-up artist.
And as for her own claim to fame? “When I was 6 years old I used to live in Spain and I was in an episode of Benidorm as an extra,” Lana says.
Here’s everything you need to know about Lana before she starts turning heads in the villa.
Lana Jenkins – key facts
Age: 25
Job: Make-up artist
Instagram: @lanajenkinss
Lana is a hopeless romantic who falls head over heels rapidly – which means she’s well-suited to the Love Island villa, where relationships move at hyperspeed.
“I fall in love quickly,” she admits. “I tend to know quite soon if I could fall in love with that person and then, as long as everything is going well, I’ll probably tell them I love them in about a week.” Fingers crossed she finds the one on the show.
At the time of writing, Lana has just over 4,000 followers on her Instagram account, @lanajenkinss, but she can undoubtedly anticipate that number to soar once she enters the villa.
Don’t anticipate seeing any updates on her account while she’s on the show, despite the fact that she has previously shared photos from her trips to sunny places like Tulum, Mexico, and the party island of Ibiza, as well as images showcasing her impressive makeup skills (including some eerie Halloween transformations).
Love Island contestants won’t be permitted to have an active social media presence while they are in the villa this season as a result of new duty of care policies.
Normally, islanders give a friend or family member management of their accounts when they appear on the show, but this time, they have been requested to stop posting in order to save contestants and their loved ones from “the negative impacts of social media.”
Although we’re likely to hear a lot about it once the new season begins, Lana is keeping her cards rather close to her chest when it comes to outlining what she wants in a potential mate.
But when dates try to pique her interest outside of the villa by sending “question marks,” she is unimpressed.
“I don’t mind people texting me all the time but if you send me question marks if I’ve not replied to you in a while, you’re gone,” she explains. “That’s a really big red flag for me!”
Does she have any more icks? “If I see a guy trip over, that’s an instant turn off.” Clumsy islanders, beware…
